etsy for buyers part 3.

Lets talk about buying something you can’t hold in your hands. Which can be really daunting the first time!
We are tactile creatures. We like to feel the weight, the texture and the essence of the things we buy.
So how can you buy something on Etsy, especially jewellery, and know you are getting the right thing?
A few hints to buying something the virtual way…
1) If there are measurements, try them out.
Get the ruler and see how big that butterfly is, measure an existing necklace and try on one that is the same length.
2) Try and work out perspective. If there is something else in the photo, or one measurement, use that as a base to determine how big (or small) the item is. I tend to use macro photos of my work which can make them seem bigger than they actually are.
3) Read the seller’s feedback.
Feedback is quite personal on Etsy. Some people can go into extraordinary detail which can give you another insight to the seller and their wares.
4) Remember that some web browsers can change colour appearance.
5) Ask the seller! If you are unsure what 14K Gold filled actually is, then ‘convo’ them! You will find the majority of sellers are more than happy to help you out, and the ones who don’t are telling you something about them.
