the art of naming jewelry

‘Mr Darcy and I’ is the name of these latest earrings. After a while of trying to think of names for jewelry to sell on ETSY you start to go a bit troppo. Well at least I do!

I discovered a while back not to name items that would be embarrassing. Protected by the illusion of animosity, I once named a necklace ‘Chain Me to the Bed’ I’m not into being chained to a bed, but it was a catchy name. Unfortunately, I started handing out business cards to friends and aquaintances. Great for traffic! Not so good for realising that they probably thought I was into that kind of stuff.

I love using vintage chain, so I have resorted to equally as strange names, but not at all blushing material, like ‘Sea Chain’ and ‘Circles of Love’ (ok, kinda corny).

But what’s a girl to do?

I wonder if the name of an item makes it more desirable to buy??

I love your jewellery names! Not only are these earrings rather divine but with a name like “Mr Darcy and I” how could any one resist? Where is my piggy bank? Just wondering which Mr Darcy? Matthew Macfadyen? Colin Firth?
